Newton's Law by Saint Kanada - Debunking Final conclusion

If the fraud  is not oblivious by now I will quote the full translation of the sukta (From Vol 6 The sacred book of the Hindus “The vaisheshika sutra of kanada - commentary by sankara misra“)

1) DRAVYASHRAYYAGUNAVAAN SAMYOGA VIBHAAGESHU AKAARANAM ITHI GUNA LAKSHANAM [ VAISHESHIKA SUTHRA 1.1.16]

Commentary is as below

2)
SAMYOGA VIBHAAGA VEGHAANAAM KARMA SAMAANAM.      [ VAISHESHIKA SUTRA -- 1.1.20]

Who on the earth found out newton’s laws of motion here. I think it is self explanatory that these things have nothing to do with Newton’s laws of motion or anything similar to that. Off course I am not saying entire vaisheshika philosophy is useless. Kanada’s thoughts as a philosophical speculation were more naturalistic and advanced compared to other philosophies of that time. But to compare it to Newton’s law is absurdity. It is a clear case of trying to equate philosophical speculation and scientific theories. Kanada was prominent philosopher in the vaisheshika school of indian philosophy.  He vews on
atomism was similar(if not more advanced) to greek philosopher Democritus but important thing to note is that it was philosophical speculation not scientific analysis. He wasn't using scientific method. One thing that distinguishes science is that empirical testing of the ideas. To give a similar example many Ionian coast philosophers in greek also speculated on many physical theories but it is laughable to say that newton and other physicists just rediscovered what Ionian coast philosophers had said

  1. First of all I would appreciate the time of the blogger who spent to study but failed to understand many concepts in the absence of a proper Guru or Master. Hence you ended up with lopsided views or half naked truths. You can easily mislead the common public and an average reader though grammatical mistakes are a lot in this blog. One way or the other way round you are trying to substantiate your own self-struggled justifications based on your views. Half Knowledge is too dangerous ...find a true, balanced ethical Guru (Master). Only he can help you, guide you to the right destination. From Avidya to Vidya, from Maya to Maha-Maya. Be Blessed!

    1. Dane vinayakdas thanks for commenting. I agree that there are grammatical mistakes in my post and i will try to improve in my future posts. But irrespective of those mistakes and me don't having "guidance of a guru" etc the conclusion of my posts holds because it is a logical conclusion from following premises:
      1. Conceptual differences between philosophical speculations and scientific theories.
      2. The actual meaning of the Kanada sutra from reliable sources.
The above facts are not only independent of me having any "spiritual" experience etc but they are independent of my existence itself.
Unlike some religious apologists and similar people i don't start with a conclusion and try to give justifications to it. My conclusions are based on evidence and if reliable evidence is produced to show that i am wrong i will be happy to change my views.
I want to know on what basis you conclude that i am wrong? I also once upon a time believed in Maya advaitha and related nonsense i will write a separate post demonstrating the logical fallacies and other problems in advaitha. Regarding the empirical world there is no meaning in the idea of absolute knowledge because all knowledge is fallible. (see http://www.iep.utm.edu/fallibil/ )

    2. Dude this was a fantastic review. Dont be discouraged by these other people. they will make petty attempts to criticize your grammar n distract you but just remember...

These are people who cannot grasp the simple idea that u cannot just sit in a room and think the universe out... we need Observational Data, We need predictions and we need excellent record keep.

Any one can cherry pick a shlok that vaguely resembles some theory, ignore the rest of these holy books (which are filled with many immoral and stupid thoughts) and then claim that we invented everything first.

Newtons achievement wasnt the laws of motion. it was this tradition set into motion of the Scientific Method. Thats why he is the greatest scientist of all time.

You did a fantastic Job. Regards

  2. Dear blogger,
    You have translated wrong verses.

Here are the Vaisheshika Sutras which describe the relation between force and motion :

    1) वेगः निमित्तविशेषात कर्मणो जायते |

Meaning : Change of motion is due to impressed force

    वेगः निमित्तापेक्षात कर्मणो जायते नियतदिक क्रियाप्रबन्धहेतु |

Meaning : Change of motion is proportional to the impressed force and is in the direction of the force.

    वेगः संयोगविशेषविरोधी |

Meaning : Action and reaction are equal and opposite.
